Water Polo Club: Welfare Secretary

Hey guys, it’s Mathis, and I’m running for Welfare Secretary in this by-election!

I started Water Polo for the first time this year, and honestly I didn’t expect how much of a blast I’d have. But more than anything, it’s the community that’s made it such a great experience. From Allegra’s amazing work teaching beginners and creating such a welcoming environment, to Harry’s enthusiasm and team spirit, and Elsa and Jaime pushing the club to an incredible Varsity win against King’s, it’s clear how much effort people put into making this society special.

I’d love the opportunity to become Welfare Secretary so I can help continue building on the positivity, support, and sense of community within the club. From bringing energy and support to matches, the super productive “study” sessions at Student Centre, to helping maintain a positive atmosphere at trainings and socials, I believe I’d be a great fit for the role.

I’m always happy to meet new people and have a chat, and I want to be someone members feel comfortable coming to if they’re struggling or just need someone to talk to, without judgement. I want to help continue creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and part of a community, just like I felt when I joined the society this year. That’s what “keeping everyone afloat” means to me.
