Hello! I'm Ethan, loyal transport nerd (see picture), committed Instagram scroller and comedic genius.
As Social Media Officer, I would promise you:
- the finest transit memes to watch on your commute
- >1000 followers for the society
- the latest updates on events
- good service on all lines!
Every journey matters. This president will make society inclusive to everyone's favourite mode of transport, whether that's the Elizabeth line, Overground, Underground, trams, buses, or even your own two wheels or feet. The events I'll be organising next year will reflect that. There's something for everyone! Vote Matthew for:
- Walking tours around London
- Heritage bus rides, visits to bus depot open days and museums
- Croydon tram and bus challenge
- Visits further afield, such as to the York Railway Museum, Didcot and Locomotion
- Visits to the London Transport Museum at Covent Garden and Acton
- Visits to the Ruislip Lido Railway, Epping Ongar Railway and Bluebell Railway
- Speaker events and panels with transport industry professionals
- Events with people like Jago Hazzard and Luke Agbaimoni from the Tube Mapper Project
- Any other ideas, let me know!
As social media officer, I'll be responsible for keeping everyone up-to-date about our events and getting everyone involved!
I am standing for TFL Society's Social Media Officer role because our institutional standing gives us a great opportunity to create and promote sustainable ideas around transportation online. It is easy to pay attention to the showstopping aspects of TFL (Trains, trams, busses, etc.), but there is so much more to London and its transportation network. Beyond just recapping our adventures within and outside of London, our social media team could highlight micro mobility schemes, cycle routes, advocacy networks, and even the cable car!
Clips showing historical oddities related to London's transportation network (à la Londonist) would also broaden our scope and increase traffic on our Instagram. Additionally giving us greater visibility to UCL students outside of our current membership.
