There is so much to do around transport. As transport enthusiasts, transport-related activities are an important part of our lives, and I recognise that it's not just about occasional events, it's a whole lifestyle that we kill our time with.
This year, I wish to deliver activities that cover diverse transport modes, that are inclusive to everyone, and that inspire members to find their own passion in transport. Vote for me for:
- Heritage buses and railway visits
- Transport museum visits
- Leisure-ride day-outs (bus spotting, train spotting, etc.)
- Fares and ticketing workshops (to help you (over-)optimise your transport spendings, and spot ticketing quirks!)
TfL society has always been an interesting and inclusive place for me. As your events officer, I will use my rich experience in organising my own transport activities in delivering smooth, enjoyable, and cost effective events for the society. I'm looking forward to serving the community!
Every journey matters. This president will make society inclusive to everyone's favourite mode of transport, whether that's the Elizabeth line, Overground, Underground, trams, buses, or even your own two wheels or feet. The events I'll be organising next year will reflect that. There's something for everyone! Vote Matthew for:
- Walking tours around London
- Heritage bus rides, visits to bus depot open days and museums
- Croydon tram and bus challenge
- Visits further afield, such as to the York Railway Museum, Didcot and Locomotion
- Visits to the London Transport Museum at Covent Garden and Acton
- Visits to the Ruislip Lido Railway, Epping Ongar Railway and Bluebell Railway
- Speaker events and panels with transport industry professionals
- Events with people like Jago Hazzard and Luke Agbaimoni from the Tube Mapper Project
- Any other ideas, let me know!
As events officer, I'll be steering society's direction to make sure that everyone has something they'd love to participate in. It's nice to serve a society I love so much and to see it grow and flourish. Also, as someone who's been to many new station and bus route openings and am an avid train enthusiast myself, I can talk about all things TfL and transport-related non-stop!
