Claudia Wai

Hi everyone! I'm Claudia, running to be your next TEDx Soc President. As a former TED Talk speaker and MUN President who has chaired a room of 500, I've seen how one idea, in the right space, can completely change how a room thinks—and I want to bring that into our society where ideas are not just heard, but actively discussed, challenged, and built upon together. As President, I want this to be more than something you show up to but a space where every member, regardless of experience, feels confident to speak, question, and grow. My key initiatives include:

  • Increase hands-on discussion experiences—monthly interdisciplinary discussion groups, structured panel debates on current global issues, and case-study sessions based on real-world decisions
  • Strengthen speaker and talk quality—TEDx-style talks from students, academics, and professionals, with themed panels on AI ethics, climate policy, and inequality bringing different perspectives into one room
  • Expand opportunities and networks—guest speakers from academia, industry, and policy, career-focused events across research, consulting, and public policy, and informal coffee chats that make networking feel accessible

Having led large-scale discussions and spoken on TED stages, I know what it takes to create spaces where people feel both challenged and heard. If elected, I'll make sure every member feels confident to speak up, every idea is welcomed, and every conversation leaves you thinking just a little differently than before!

Anagha Sreeram

I strongly believe in the TED motto “ideas change everything”, and would love to bring public speaking, discussion, and a platform for ideas to the forefront of life at UCL.

As President, I hope to continue the TEDxUCL conference while also reviving smaller-scale community initiatives such as TEDxAdventure museum trips and salons which encourage curiosity beyond the boundaries of a degree.

I would also love to explore outreach opportunities through charity and school events, helping bring confidence in public speaking and idea-sharing to younger students.

Most importantly, I want to bring intellectual excitement to a welcoming, and community-driven space where students from all backgrounds feel encouraged to engage with new perspectives and conversations.
