Taiwanese Society: Head of Events

Hello, it’s me, Roy, your local friendly Asian American/Taiwanese American who restarted American Society! While I haven’t been as involved with Taiwanese Society events this academic year as I anticipated, the ones I have been involved in and my experiences with other societies and groups at UCL have inspired my highly ambitious direction for the future of UCL Taiwanese Society.

If elected, I pledge to:

• Increase event partnerships with other societies, especially cultural societies: It is great that we hold events with other Taiwanese societies in London. However, just as we enjoy (in Taiwan itself) localised Italian and Japanese food, imported Dutch chip manufacturing equipment, US-style electrical outlets, et cetera, we should also have our society celebrate our links with other cultures, thereby spreading appreciation of Taiwanese culture!
• Find convenient ways to promote events to members without LINE or Instagram, to increase engagement from overseas Taiwanese students and Taiwan fans.

• Proactively seek feedback and work with other officers to ensure active members not only love our events, but also feel they had a say in them (thereby building a sense of collective identity and responsibility).

  Vote Roy, for events that bring Taiwan to the world and the world to Taiwan, thereby building mutual understanding and joy!
