Samuel Olafimihan

Hey guys, my name is Sam, and I am running for UCL RAX social secretary! I believe I can further improve our already great social media presence and make it something truly extraordinary, and cement UCL RAX’s place as one of UCL’s greatest societies. I aim to achieve this by refining the design of our Instagram, and making posts feel more personal by usage of strong visual themes, giving the society a unique identity. This also includes experimenting with more videos and reels to increase engagement.

Athletics and Cross Country are truly global sports, with little to no barrier of entry and it is incredibly important to me that UCL RAX is able to grow and attract new members, especially at such a diverse and international university. As someone from a minority background, I have witnessed first hand how the combination of social media can be used to create unity through sport, which is something I am deeply passionate about. As social secretary, I aim to channel my personal experiences into creating content that will inspire people to participate and join UCL RAX, and show that students from all backgrounds can truly enjoy athletics.

Beyond my passion for athletics and social media, I bring practical experience in design, content creation, and managing online communities. I am organised, reliable and always willing to listen to new ideas. My goal is to make our social platforms not just informative, but a reflection of the energy, inclusivity, and ambition that define UCL RAX!

Angus Xu

Hi everyone! My name is Angus and I'm running to be your next social secretary! I was on the ballot for the first round but there was an administrative issue leading to only 1 social sec elected on the last ballot rather than 2 so therefore I am standing again in the by-election. I would appreciate your vote again!

I'm a second-year student studying Politics & IR and I have been part of RAX for the past 2 years. Honestly, I have really enjoyed all the events that RAX has offered, I've been actively involved in social runs, Track Tuesdays, intervals and Saturday hills, to running for the club in LUCA and BUCS XC!! What really makes RAX special is how everybody is so friendly and approachable as a community, especially for someone like me who came from Hong Kong, I felt genuinely welcomed and included.

I've really enjoyed participating in various social events this year, including the LUCA and BUCS XC post-race socials in Loughborough and sports nights at the Rocket and the Scala and I'm really excited for the social events coming in this academic year!

I'd love to host a wide variety of social events next year, with the possibility of collaborating with other societies and unis. Most importantly, I would like to continue the strong legacy built this year and continue expanding what makes RAX’s social side so special.

Joshua Orhewere

UCL RAX is more than just training sessions and race days. The community around it is what makes it special, and I want to help continue keeping it that way!

As someone who juggles a degree with work, volunteering and society commitments, I know how important it is to have a social outlet that actually brings people together. I have experience in hospitality and events, working high-pressure VIP functions where getting the atmosphere right really matters. That instinct for creating great experiences is exactly what I'd bring to RAX socials.

As Social Secretary, I want to build a calendar that works for everyone, whether you're a competitive athlete or just someone who runs for the love of it, and make sure every member feels part of something worth showing up for.
