RUMS Society: Academic Vice-President Years 4-6

Hi, my name is Evelina, and I’m a fourth-year medical student running to be your RUMS Clinical Academic VP.

This year, as a Lead Representative, I worked closely with module representatives and the current Academic VP to gather student feedback and represent it in meetings with the medical school throughout the year. This included raising concerns about teaching, site-specific communication, and the major changes to the Year 4 DOPs system.

As part of the EDI committee, I also analysed student feedback on the new attendance policy, highlighting important issues relating to accessibility and equity.

As Clinical Academic VP, you can count on me to be approachable, reliable, and committed to representing students’ concerns effectively. My priorities will be to:

1. Create a clear document outlining the overall timeline for Years 4–6, helping students plan their accommodation and finances during clinical years. 
2. Develop a centralised resource to support students applying for the NHS bursary. 
3. Work towards standardising the IOM at the start of Year 4 across all three sites, ensuring students receive uniform support and guidance as they begin communicating with patients and taking histories.
