Since joining MT Society, I've gained so much from working on different shows (Offshore and Assassins this term). As president of MT Soc, I will manage room bookings, email responses, and admin work efficiently, so all performances can run as smoothly as possible. Having taken part in many shows with MT, I believe I've become a recognisable face for many and as president I will be present and approachable for all members of the society throughout any stresses that may arise in productions.
Inclusion of members across different backgrounds, as well as new members is essential or the longevity of MT Soc, and something I will focus on by running beginner-oriented/non-member-friendly events throughout the year, rather than just at the start of term 1. We're known for putting on shows with a high standard and keeping in communication with, and ensuring the continued participation of a diverse, prod, band, cast, and directors will be key to maintaining this next year.
In short, MT Soc has given a lot to me, and I know I have a lot to give back to the society as president. See everyone at hustings and arts awards!
*Yes I'm in a church in the picture - Jesus voted for me and you should too*
Hi, I'm Aaron and I'm running for MT President.
Who am I?
Over the past year I've been heavily involved in MTSoc, being cast in small shows and spotlight; assistant prod for The Last 5 Years; and director of Trail to Oregon.
I've also been present in all 3 galas as a performer or audience member; attended most of the workshops and socials; and showed up to every welfare drop in session in Term 1, as well as every MT Show.
Furthermore, I was also tech for Pride Festival.
This demonstrates my passion for MT, and my understanding of every aspect of the society and its activities, as well as my perspective of each role involved in MT.
Policies:
- Society Handbook and Bid Guide / Archive
- Providing a baseline understanding of the society
- Centralising past bids, to avoid bidders repeating mistakes.
- Bid decisions
- Committee votes and reasoning will be public
- Socials
- Mix of frequent low key and infrequent high key socials
- Increasing socials frequency in general
These are the main ones, but I'd also like to re-emphasise the "learning" aspect of Spotlight, making concerts a thing
The objective is to increase transparency, and strengthen Communication between Committee and Community.
Why me?
- I hold myself to a high standard and will always give it my all and hear people out
Disclaimer:
I want to bid my own show next year, but I will be transparent about it.
If elected I will drop the title of Events Officer, but will still carry out the role's duties until the Term 1 by-elections.
DON'T VOTE RON, VOTE A-A-RON!
Hi! I’m Hannah! I’ve been a member of MTsoc for the past two years and have truly enjoyed every minute of it, and I love the feeling when people come together in the community MTsoc has created. Through the passion this society shares, I’ve found my place, and I’m eager to give back to this community by giving its members more opportunities to experience the magic of this society.
It would be a real honor to take on the role of president. If elected, I aim to:
- Maintain the society's effective operation, especially by ensuring that the society will not lack opportunities to perform without our usual Term 1 Bloomsbury production. I will communicate with various parties to ensure we do not lose out. Let me know your thoughts - I want to represent you!
- Improve inclusivity by increasing the variety of socials, events, and workshops to allow members with different interests, different levels of experience, and commitment to MT to find their place (e.g., PPT & themed nights, and so much more). I want to encourage bidding workshops (guidelines, demos) and socials for different producers to meet and come together to help them navigate the bidding process
- Be open to new ideas, and raise the approachability of the committee by providing platforms for feedback and criticism (at socials, for example), as well as taking advice from past committee members
MT makes every day feel like an adventure for me, and I’d love to share that feeling with you. So please consider voting for me — thank you!
