Wasifa Khalid

Over the past year, I have been the Clinical Education Co-Chair for MedSoc and supported many changes to the way we run things. Our key achievements include:

  • A successful Year 4 mOSCE: I led the organisation of the year 4 annual MedSoc mOSCE, which received excellent feedback from students and UCLMS staff.
  • A new Y4 OSCE team &integrated tutorials: Created a dedicated subcommittee to ensure OSCE peer-to-peer teaching is accessible to everyone in the year, and our term 3 tutorials are popular and integrate both AKT content and OSCE practice.
  • Introduced a Year 5 mOSCE: this year, for the very first time, MedSoc will be holding a Year 5 mOSCE which is sponsored by the BMA.

If re-elected, I will use my experience to hit the ground running from the start. Some of the plans I have are:

  • Year-Round Integration: I will move the "AKT x OSCE" integrated model from Term 3 to Term 1. By starting early, we can reduce student anxiety and provide more opportunities for hands-on practice throughout the academic year.
  • OSCE mini mocks throughout the year: I believe regular and accessible OSCE practice will help improve student confidence for both Y4 and Y5.
  • Year 5 and Year 6 mOSCEs: I will introduce a Year 6 mock exam to ensure final-year students feel fully supported by MedSoc during their most critical year. I will also plan the Year 5 mock well in advance.
  • Organise teaching sessions delivered by alumni/doctors both for exams + post-graduate interests.
