As a Business and Health student, I have always been interested to help other people with their mental health problems and other issues facing them.

Roy Shu

Fellow members,

Hello! I’m Roy, who is probably best known within Lithuanian Society as the local friendly Asian American (and SSEES student) who restarted American Society. While I admittedly have only managed to attend one event this academic year, since I saw that the crucial Welfare Officer position was not filled during the Leadership Race, I have decided to make a serious effort to help out in this way.

If elected, I will:

  • Be approachable (and attend more events), so that I can proactively address welfare concerns: I am known elsewhere for replying to messages around the clock (including at night) and for talking to others at events, all of which help to get welfare issues addressed promptly.
  • Take context from current events into account: As one of the leading members (during AY 2025-26) of the SSEES (“Post-Soviet”) Press Group (also called PSPG), I already keep track of events in the eponymous region (including Lithuania), and therefore can support welfare needs related to said events.
  • Work with other officers to anticipate and minimise welfare risks related to our activities: With my experience writing and implementing the American Society’s Core Risk Assessment, I can support other officers in planning events well so that Lithuanian Society continues to be a place for having fun and celebrating Lithuanian culture.

This is a serious campaign (not a joke), so I will respond to questions by email (find me in directory search). I will of course be glad to answer your emails!
