Hi, I’m Ruth, a 1st year History of Art student. I have found HOAS extremely rewarding this academic year, and I am happy to have been involved with the Christie’s course, several social events, and as a columnist for Paper Galleries. Being able to expand my academic interests in my extra-curriculars has been a highlight of 1st year and I would love to provide the same experience for all current and future HOAS members.
I was the Head of History of Art Society for two years whilst in Sixth Form and thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with others and growing the society's outreach to new members.I also founded an EDI Magazine, where I led a team of writers to produce articles on arts and cultural heritage. Through these roles, I learnt marketing, organisation, leadership and team-building skills. I promise to help the committee build an environment within HOAS that reflects the cultural diversity of UCL.
Now as a columnist for the Paper Galleries, I would love to work more on advertising the articles and making its publicity a core part of our society. After the success of the Christie’s course, I believe expanding the society's role in professional development is essential; through panels, research programmes and networking events; introducing students to the endless possibilities available in London.
I would love the opportunity to support the president of the society in facilitating initiatives and strengthening the History of Art society.
Thank you for your consideration💕
Hi everyone! I’m Charmaine, a 1st year History of Art undergraduate, and I’m excited to run for History of Art Society Vice President!
I’ve gained strong experience in society leadership and event support through my roles as General Secretary and Marketing Director on other UCL society subcommittees. Through my experiences, I’ve learned how to help a society run smoothly, by staying organised, coordinating outreach, and ensuring members feel informed and included.
Through gallery internships in London, I've learned the importance of balancing timing and logistics, so that planning stays on track and events run smoothly. I’m also comfortable working in a team, and I value clear, consistent communication and being a reliable point of contact. That experience is what I would bring to the VP role, supporting the President in running the society, organising socials, talks and possibly new events, so everything is well-communicated and well-executed.
My vision is to help create a HOA community where people feel connected and supported, while ensuring the society is genuinely well-run behind the scenes. I hope to strengthen our network within and beyond UCL, while ensuring we’re liaising effectively with the department and representing members properly. I plan to actively seek input from both our members and the committee to ensure that our and events are inclusive and relevant.
I’d love to meet you all and work together to make the History of Art Society a great community for everyone!
