Iris Xu

Hi! Some of you may already know me, but for those who don't, I'm Iris, and I'm running to be your next Trip Secretary for UCLCMC! :D

I know Trip Sec is one of the more demanding positions on the committee, as it involves a lot of planning, organisation, and responsibility. For trips to happen, you need someone who can organise transport, costs, safety, and make sure everyone knows what's going on. As someone who always organises the friendship group trips abroad, I'm confident I am suitable to take on this role!

I'm also from Sheffield, the home of climbing, so climbing has always been a big part of my life. Being from a place surrounded by amazing outdoor climbing areas, I want to be able to introduce opportunities for people in the society as well.

My aims as Trip Secretary:

  1. More accessible, smaller trips: We tend to only have 3 Trips in a year: Portland, Winter Trip and the Easter Trip. I'd love to introduce smaller outdoor trips, like going to Southern Sandstone or even a trip to the Peak District.
  2. Keeping costs as low as possible: I'd like to make trips more affordable for people by looking for cheaper transport options and choosing more accessible options.
  3. Making sure everything runs smoothly: I'll ensure that trip details are clear and easy to follow, so members know exactly what to expect.

Overall, I'd love to make trips feel more accessible, affordable, and well-organised, while giving more people the chance to enjoy climbing outdoors.
