Boat Club: Welfare Officer

HELLO all - my name is Emilia, and upon some reflection, I have decided that I would like to be your welfare officer next year! After (almost) completing my novice year, I’ve come to understand what the boat club is doing well in terms of welfare but also where the gaps are. Rowing is a tough sport, and I would like to help the club recognise that more, especially given that it operates two novice squads. As welfare officer, my priority would be to make sure that UCLBC is a club people are always happy to be a part of (when rowing, training, braving phineas or otherwise), and I would particularly like to work on the squad hierarchies we that unfortunately currently have (#justicefornovwomen). I believe that as a club we can continue to make positive progress in terms of our welfare and inclusivity, because happy (integrated) rowers are the best rowers (as with all athletes, really)

I also have like fifteen DBS checks for reference x
