American Society: President

Hello from me, Roy (the current President), your local friendly Asian American that collected signatures, drew up paperwork, and got the American Society restarted.

Although we had a relatively slow start, we still achieved so much together (considering that we in practice were only fully approved to run as an affiliated society this February):

• Approval of society paperwork (including the Core Risk Assessment, which I wrote in consultation with fellow officers)
• Pizza social and Knowledge Trip to the Imperial War Museum

• Digital infrastructure (I set up our website and (so far) spam-free WhatsApp and have updated the old American Society’s IG profile to point to ours)

  What you can expect from me if voted as President next academic year

• Continued outreach to potential partners: I started preliminary discussions with Yale in London and UCL’s US-focused admissions/alum outreach staff, creating potential interaction opportunities for members
• Implementation of pre-existing long-term plans: More Knowledge Trips (museum/cultural site visits), holiday and voting-related events, joint events, socials (including informal chats on US politics and culture). Additionally, we will finally launch our collective publication Benevolence (subject to relevant approvals).

• Institutional knowledge: Continued updates to our website and IT infrastructure, and the WhatsApp announcements that drive all action

  This year, we started. Next year, we will bloom as the star of Bloomsbury!
