Xin Chào!

I am Nhi Nguyen and I am running to be your next Welfare officer for  UCL Vietnamese Society.

As a Vietnamese student at UCL, I understand how challenging it can be to navigate life in a new environment — from cultural differences and homesickness to academic stress and social pressure. That’s why I’m standing for Welfare Officer: to support and uplift our Vietnamese community here at UCL.

The UCL Vietnamese Society is more than just a student group — it’s a home away from home. I want to help create a space where every Vietnamese student feels welcomed, valued, and heard. Whether it’s through one-on-one support, wellbeing initiatives, or community bonding activities, my goal is to make sure no one ever feels alone.

If elected, I will:

  • Be a friendly, approachable presence for any member who needs support.
  • Organize events that promote mental wellbeing, such as cozy gatherings, cultural celebrations, or stress-relief activities.
  • Connect members with resources — in both English and Vietnamese — that can help with mental health, housing, academics, and more.
  • Foster a strong sense of unity, helping us stay proud of our culture while supporting each other in this shared journey.

Our culture values kindness, solidarity, and care — and I hope to bring those values to this role, for the good of every member in our Vietnamese family at UCL.
