TEDx Society: Treasurer

Hi, I’m Yvette Cheng, a second-year Civil Engineering student, and I’m applying for Treasurer because I’m passionate about supporting big ideas with calm, structured, and reliable systems behind the scenes.

With experience running a food business and working as a private chef, I’ve handled real-world budgeting, event planning, and logistical coordination. I’ve also tutored maths and physics for three years, which strengthened my precision and patience—qualities essential to financial management.

I previously completed the Technical Journalism course by Dr. Sunny Bains, which sharpened my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly—especially in technology and innovation. TEDx is all about clarity, impact, and storytelling, and I want the society’s finances to reflect that same integrity and purpose.

I aim to build a transparent and accessible finance system for TEDxUCL—one that helps the team budget with confidence, manage reimbursements smoothly, and plan events without hidden hurdles. I’ll also support fundraising efforts and ensure all funds align with TEDx’s mission and values.

I’m a great team player, detail-driven, and happy to support others wherever needed. As Treasurer, I won’t just manage the numbers—I’ll empower the team to think big, knowing the structure is solid beneath them.
