Eliza Tomaszuk

Hello! I’m Eliza and I’m currently a second year BA Linguistics student and I am running to be one of your external officers. I have been very active in the realm of stage crew this year as it has been my first year in the society. My total number of shows I have done this year alone will be 11 so I know my way pretty well around equipment as well as working with other people.

This year I have done 3 official externals:

  • Arts 4 Palestine - mully’s
  • MT spotlight: pantamonium - punnet hall
  • Twelfth Night (all 3 performances) - mully’s

I have enjoyed myself with every external I’ve done and pretty much know mully’s like the back of my hand. I also enjoy the fast paced set up relating to an external even with the lack of hours when it comes for get in, especially when it comes to sitting on the floor as audience come in taping cables to the floor. I’m excited to collaborate with other societies directly as well, working on the management end of schedules and availability. Lastly, I’m happy to show many freshers on how an external set up works, hoping to work in the sound department for the externals, and having figured out the lighting panel at mully’s to the T having had over 20 light cues on it (with the panel looming ominously in the background of my candidate photo).

I would love to be one of your externals officers for next year, as working on stage crew brings me a lot of joy, and further allow people to explore it outside of the blooms.

All right, let's do this one last time.

My first ever Stage Crew event was the 24hr dancesoc show at the start of the year. I messed up one of the audio files and the performers asked to restart so yeah it wasn't great. But the experienced members already there told me not to worry. That's the environment I want to maintain.

I have done many external tech events, some that haven't even been Stage Crew ones

This is what I have done in Mully's alone
  - I have lit every rattlepole
  - tech for the NPSCC charity showcase
  - Did the tech for the graters show
  - tech'd every taylor swift karaoke night

I'm very strong so I can move flight cases.

I've done a couple of things in Stage Crew this past year
   - Have run for Committee 5 times before this
   - Did Shrek, A Monster Calls, Rhapsody in the blooms
   - LD'd Be More Chill in the Studio
   - All (I think) Monday pub trips
   - Many a get-out

I've been involved on the production side of many shows, in this term alone I am involved with 4. I know what happens on prod teams, I know producers, I know how they work.
I have a good rate of communication with members of Dramasoc, Shakesoc, and MTsoc.
I will work on improving communication with these societies, like getting allocations for externals done sooner so crew can be involved with the production process from before the actual show days.

I'm also an activities rep and sit on activities zone and so am familiar with union processes and beurocracy in that regard.

Thank you for considering
