Joining the MedTech Society as a member and attending several events this year, I found them highly engaging and insightful. Hence, I would love to be part of the committee next year to continue providing members with opportunities to expand their knowledge useful for their studies and career aspirations. I am especially drawn to the Portal Executive role as I am interested in using an online platform as a medium to make people well-informed on cutting-edge developments in medical technology. Through this role, I would love to:

  • Increase the variety of articles on the MedTech Portal to include recent innovations, news, personal accounts of events/work experience, interviews, and other appealing topics
  • Hold termly article competitions on diverse themes, with prizes for winners to encourage participation
  • Enhance students’ awareness of the MedTech Portal (and opportunities to write for it) through promotions in relevant departmental newsletters and notice boards

My previous experience as a Media and Marketing Officer for the Biochemistry Society, as well as a Writer and Editor for Kinesis Magazine, has honed my skills in article writing, communications, database management, and audience engagement, which I am eager to bring if chosen as a Portal Executive. I am willing to maximise the potential of the MedTech Portal as an informative platform for those interested in medical technology.

Juman Al Naser

I am excited to run for the position of Portal Executive for the MedTech Society because I’m passionate about improving access to resources and creating a smooth, user-friendly experience for our members. I believe the portal is a vital tool for connecting students to opportunities, educational content, and society updates. With strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset, I am confident in my ability to maintain and enhance the portal so that it becomes a central hub for everything MedTech at our university. I also bring digital fluency, problem-solving skills, and experience with content management systems and user-focused design, all of which will help me manage and improve the platform effectively.

I’m standing for this role because I see its potential to strengthen member engagement and make valuable content more accessible, inclusive, and visually appealing. I am passionate about ensuring the portal is up to date, intuitive, and welcoming to all students, regardless of their background or experience level. I value clarity, accessibility, and inclusivity, and I’m committed to designing a portal that reflects the diversity of our community while supporting every member in exploring their interests in medical technology. As Portal Executive, I’ll be responsive to feedback, collaborate closely with the rest of the committee, and work hard to make the portal a trusted, empowering tool for all members.
