Hi my name is Taiwo Sowole.
I am writing to express my strong interest in the position of Treasurer for the Knitting Society. Since joining this academic year, I have not only gained valuable skills but also developed a deep appreciation for the vibrant and supportive community within the society.
My interest in the Treasurer role stems from my passion for keeping finances organized and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. I have always believed that strong financial management is at the core of any successful organization. I have been particularly inspired by the outstanding work of the previous Treasurer, whose efforts in securing funds for events like movie nights and managing the budget for our knitting projects made a real difference.
In addition to my interest in budgeting, I have hands-on experience managing finances. I recently created a budget tracker for myself, which has been an incredibly useful tool in staying organised.
As Treasurer, I would bring my attention to detail, organisational skills, and passion for finance to help the society maintain financial transparency, ensure we can fund future events, and keep our activities running smoothly. I am committed to supporting the society in achieving its goals and building an even stronger sense of community for all members. My goal is to help make sure our events are well-funded and that we can continue creating memorable experiences together.
Thank you ☺️

Knitsoc has been one of the most enjoyable parts of my year and I'd love to help keep it running! Whilst I'm not a STEM student, I have always been an excel budgeting fiend and would love to make sure Knitsoc has plenty of (authorised) snacks and yarn.

Hello, I'm Scarlet, a third year Fine Art student. I've been knitting for about 15 years(!!) and attending Knit Soc for the past 3 years; it's been such a pleasure seeing everyone's projects and chatting to so many lovely knitters and crocheters!
Alongside knitting, buying yarn (often without a plan in mind) is one of my great passions in life, and it's fair to say I've had plenty of practice and experience doing so; therefore I'm ready to take it to the next level as your Treasurer!
I founded and ran my sixth form knitting club back in the day, and also arranged various sewing, craft, and jewellery making classes when I worked in a primary school, all of which required me to source materials and tools within certain limited budgets.
If elected, I plan to work closely alongside other committee members to ensure that society funding is put to the best and most efficient use; ensuring every member is able to access yarn and equipment suited to their projects, funding a variety of workshops and special sessions throughout the year, and ensuring that the snack selection remains top tier!
I've taught so many friends how to knit at this point, even a huge group of 7 year olds at one point, and am pretty skilled at troubleshooting anything that might have gone wrong with your knitting/crochet, so alongside all that treasuring, I look forward to helping everyone out as much as possible during the beginner and sip and stitch sessions!
Thank you!!! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ )✧

I only recently picked up crocheting but it’s become one of my favourite hobbies! I would like to nominate myself for treasurer because I am an organised person, and am logical and responsible with money. I’d love to be able to give back to the club, and listen to people’s ideas and concerns regarding equipment. I have previously worked with managing the finances for many clubs, such as debating club and MUN society during my school time, as well as organising events for them and other societies, and believe those skills would extend to this society. I am able to work collaboratively, and with the other heads of KnitSoc I would love the opportunity to make the sessions as fun and accessible as possible.
