Hi everyone, I’m Vanessa!
As Academic Events Director, my aim is to create the best opportunities for you. That means our events don’t just end with Q&A - they lead to meaningful discussions, networking and valuable connections. I want to make sure our events inform, excite and inspire you! Here’s what I’ll bring to the role:
- Speaker Collaborations: Diversifying our events by bringing together diplomats, journalists, policymakers and economists for debates on pressing issues.
- Career networking: Regular sessions with alumni and professionals on careers in foreign service, NGOs, law, consulting and summer opportunities - so you leave with actionable steps.
- IR and the World series: Working with other student societies to bring you exciting, interdisciplinary events, from policy simulations to interactive panels to film nights. We’ll explore how IR connects with areas like human rights, development, tech, and culture.
With experience organising MUNs, student committees and preparing to be your incoming International Students’ Officer, you can be sure that I’ll deliver events that run smoothly and are engaging for you on the day. Most importantly, I’m always open to hear YOUR ideas, to design events that you truly want to engage with.
