Rayan Ghavam

Hello, I’m Rayan.

I am standing for the role of Head of Journal Club as I have  enjoyed our discussions and lectures this year, and I believe that, through my dedication and vision for the club, I will be able to make the club even better.
I will build on the work of my predecessors by branching out and diversifying the range of topics discussed, exploring specific niches in genetics that may otherwise be ignored. Furthermore, I will also include more social events too.

Thank you for your consideration.

Aaditya Gandhi

Hello! I’m Aaditya, a Biochemistry student with a keen interest in genetics. Having been an active member of the society for the past year, I have gained a great deal from its events (especially the academic talks!) and this would be the perfect opportunity to give back to GenSoc.

As Head of the Journal Club, I would:

  • Organise events that cater to all levels of expertise and areas of interest, balancing both accessibility and depth, and invite academics based on society demand
  • Maintain the momentum of our active Journal Club while introducing new, engaging events such as networking sessions and guest speaker panels to complement current offerings
  • Host interactive educational workshops on cutting-edge topics such as personalised medicine and research breakthroughs to keep members informed

I have a proven track record of leadership and event organisation: I was the President of my school’s Student Government and Secretary-General of my school’s annual MUN conference, which welcomed hundreds from across the country. As a first-year Course Representative on the Biochemistry (Structural and Molecular Biology) Student Partnership Committee, I have experience liasing with students and staff at UCL. I am a team player and will collaborate closely with other committee members, including the President and the Academic Events Officer, to effectively deliver an enriching experience for all society members.

Feel free to reach out to me at aaditya.gandhi.24@ucl.ac.uk if you have any questions!
