Hi, I’m Emma!
I’m a first-year Human Neuroscience student with a deep passion for dementia research, and I’m excited to run for Vice-President of DRS.
Dementia is one of the most pressing challenges in neuroscience today, and UCL stands at the forefront of global research in this field. I care deeply about making this knowledge accessible and engaging for the wider community. As your Vice-President, here’s what I would champion for the coming year:
1. Society Growth through Enhanced Marketing & Social Media
2. Cross-Society Events
3. Academic Seminar Series
I propose hosting at least one academic seminar each term, featuring leading experts in neuroscience. These would be complemented by fun, informal socials such as pub crawls, game nights, and themed gatherings to foster stronger connections among members.
4. Graduate Research Guidance
I plan to introduce small-group workshops or talks with master’s and PhD students to offer advice, share experiences, and help guide those interested in pursuing dementia research or academic careers.
This past year, I’ve served as the First-Year Partner (Marketing) for the Neuroscience Society and as the Events Officer for DRS. These roles have taught me how to plan, promote, and execute events—and, more importantly, how collaboration and creativity can transform a society into a dynamic, welcoming space for all.
I’d be honoured to bring this passion and experience to the role of Vice-President. Let’s make next year our most exciting yet!
