Dementia Research Society: Treasurer

Hi! My name is Emma Tan and this year, I’ve had the pleasure of serving as Events Officer for DRS. In this role, I played an active part in increasing the society’s visibility, fostering student engagement, and promoting innovative ideas for growth. Through this experience, I’ve gained valuable insight into the society’s operations and developed a strong commitment to its mission—one that I hope to build on by taking on the role of Treasurer.

Alongside my committee experience, my internships have equipped me with financial and analytical skills directly relevant to this position. I’ve worked with drug supply data, identified cost-effective suppliers, and helped optimise distribution processes—giving me hands-on experience in managing budgets and ensuring cost-efficiency.

As Treasurer, I will focus on:

• Financial Transparency: Introducing clear and accessible budgeting systems so members can easily track society finances.
• Funding Expansion: Exploring sponsorships and grants to increase financial resources for both academic and social initiatives.
• Smart Budgeting: Developing a well-structured, strategic funding plan to ensure we make the most of our budget and provide high-quality events.

My goal is to ensure DRS operates on a strong financial foundation, allowing us to host engaging events and expand our impact. With my combined experience in operations and financial management, I am committed to supporting  DRS’ mission and growth. Thank you for your consideration!
