Hi, I am Amelia! I am running for President for the UCl DRS society. I am passionate about bridging the gap between scientific research and innovation for dementia and increasing awareness of  neurodegenerative diseases and their research progression. My goal this year is to expand the community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about dementia research, regardless of one’s background. I hope to achieve this by organising a range of events:

  1. Academic talks, panel discussions, webinars, lab visits- by inviting researchers and postgraduate students to share more about their research projects that consist of a range of focus areas in dementia research. It will also be a valuable opportunity for networking and gaining advice for securing internship opportunities and relevant work experience in the dementia research field.
  2. Collaborations with other societies- by reaching out to relevant STEM societies to execute events such as academic talks, networking and social events with the aim of fostering a close-knit community
  3. Educational content on social media platforms- by producing interactive quizzes and spotlight posts highlighting latest  research findings and trends on different aspects of dementia. This provides a platform for members to be involved in science communication while applying their creativity skills!
  4. Social events- by organising quiz socials, game nights, picnics, and more to foster close bonds between members and to get to know the committee better!
