Olivia Beard

Hey! I’m Liv and I’m so excited to be running for Vice President!

Dance Soc has been the highlight of my first year- I’ve made amazing friends, grown in confidence, and felt welcomed from day one. From being on the comps team to dancing in Triple Bill and Spring Showcase, and now (hopefully!) choreographing in the upcoming Societies Show, I have had so many special experiences in Dance Soc and can’t wait for more. I’d love the chance to give back to the community that’s given me so much and take on the role of VP!

I know I haven’t been on committee before, but I don’t see that as a disadvantage. I’m a fast learner who throws myself into everything I do, and I’m ready to get even more involved.

What I’d bring to the role:

  • Organisation- I actually enjoy keeping things running smoothly. Producing a show? Costume cupboard? Sorted.
  • Reliability- I’m someone people can always count on. I will make sure things are done on time (and done well).
  • Supportiveness- Whether it’s helping new members settle in or working with the amazing committee, I care a lot about people feeling heard, included and valued.
  • Creativity- I’d love to bring fun, personality and style to this role, especially with designing the committee jackets!

I’d take pride in producing the 24-hour show, managing behind-the-scenes moments, and helping make Dance Soc the energetic, welcoming, confidence-boosting space it's been for me.

Vote Liv for VP- organised, creative, dependable and ready to help!

Margret Barrett

I’ve loved dancing since I was three, starting from ballet, and later exploring contemporary, jazz, and musical theatre. Dance society has allowed me to continue this passion at uni. Over the past two years, I’ve been involved in comps, performed in Blooms, and overall found a community that feels like home. As Vice President I would want to give others the same supportive and inspiring experience. I see this role as a mix of creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, strengths I bring to the table, especially when it comes to organising events like the 24-hour show. I’m confident handling fast-paced situations, staying positive under pressure, and making things work behind the scenes. I’m approachable and always want to support others, whether it’s dance-related or not, something I think is especially important in a busy environment like UCL, where academic and dance commitments can easily become overwhelming.
From managing the costume cupboard, to onboarding new committee members, to designing the jackets, I want to contribute to keeping everything running smoothly while helping create the same welcoming environment that has meant so much to me over the past two years. I’d love the opportunity to work within a committee that has always been hardworking, fun, and genuinely lovely, and would do my best to make sure Dance Soc continues to be a place where people feel seen, inspired, and part of something special.

Artemis Lucy Georghiou

Hi everyone!
I’m Artemis, and I’m running for Vice President because I genuinely love this society and want to help it run smoothly and spectacularly.

At school, I was Head Girl (aka professional chaos-handler) and had plenty of experience organising and running events. I also managed the entire process of designing and ordering my year’s leavers’ merch — so trust me, committee jackets, costume cupboards, and merch missions are safe in my hands.

I used to be a professional gymnast on the national team, representing Cyprus internationally — so I’m no stranger to pressure! But it wasn’t until I stepped away from the world of gymnastics that I discovered dance — and honestly, there’s nothing better. Dance has this incredible power to lift you up, to give you confidence, freedom, and a way to express yourself. It’s done that for me, and it’s also introduced me to some of my closest friends. I grew up surrounded by the world of performance, as my mum grew up and performed in the West End and later opened her own theatre school. Her passion definitely rubbed off on me, and now dance is one of the most important and joyful parts of my life.

That’s why I’d love to be part of the Dance Committee — to help keep everything running and keep that magic of dance alive for everyone who joins. I’d love to contribute more and be more involved next year, helping out behind the scenes to keep everything running as beautifully as it does on stage.

So… vote for me! 💃✨❤️

Andrea Lam

Dance Society has been a space where I have not only been able to rekindle my love for dance, but also foster a meaningful connection with people from all walks of life. As vice president, I hope to be able to continue making dance more accessible and enjoyable to all corners of UCL. I am excited to bring a fresh perspective to the committee and to collaborate with everyone to truly flesh out the Society’s mission of bringing dance as an art form closer to more.

Organisation is a must with the role, and as someone who has balanced the first two years of a pharmacy degree, the competition team, choreographing commitments, and a part-time job, I believe I am well-equipped to tackle the aspects of the role which require careful planning (I literally count pills for class - I’d say I have a pretty good eye for detail!), quick thinking and excellent time-management skills. Thanks to the many hours spent combing through lab data, I love a good Excel spreadsheet and promise a smooth-running and efficient costume cupboard.

I know how great it feels to nail the combo in an audition, but I also know the sting of rejection. Having experienced the ins and outs of Dance Soc for the past two years, I’m ready to give back to this community I treasure so much, and collaborate with not only the committee, but also the members at the core of it all, to make the society ‘Bigger, Better and Best’ (Sharpay Evans, 2007)!

Defne D. Aydin

As a dancer, I’m still working on my physical flexibility but mentally, I’ve had years of practice. Stepping into different roles has taught me how to adapt quickly and think creatively. I see versatility and adaptability as essential for the VP role, where you should be able to support committee members beyond your formal duties.

From leadership roles (check my LinkedIn!) to random-but-handy skills in web design, content creation, fundraising, and planning, I’m equipped to help wherever needed. More than anything, I bring passion for dance and creativity, two things that make me flexible in the face of any challenge.

One idea that reflects this is a project: a collaboration with UCL’s fashion society, MODO. I would love to organise a dance-fashion show where we model co-designed dancewear through a choreographed routine on the runway. This could even double as a chance to refresh and expand our costume cupboard.

If you vote for me, I’ll bring ideas like this to life…

and stay flexible!

Seoyoung Kim

Whilst working as a Bloomsbury Producer, I was able to notice that having a strong supporter from the back of the group can be a huge strength of the society and also to the leader themselves. Next year, by being a Vice President of Dance Society, I would like to take a role of supporter for the society and our president, to support and push the society to spread the power of positivity through dance further and beyond.

Blooms production allowed me to learn various skills which will help me a lot when working as a vice president, such as organisation and management. I am confident that, based on a lot of experiences that I had in UCL Dance Society, I am able to provide a good quality of support to society members when they need help or ask questions, especially at the start of the next academic year when settling down to uni life. Moreover, as I was a committee member this academic year, I would be able to understand and support fellow committee members in various aspects.

I had an amazing experience in dance society which I would like to give it back by working for the members. I would always be around to help managing the society by working closely with the president and committee and listening carefully from the people. It would be lovely to be involved deeply in dance society once again and work for the members to make sure they enjoy their time in the society.

Sahena Hurburun

I’m so excited to nominate myself for VP of our Dance Society. But beyond the fun, I’ve got the skills and the chaotic energy to help take this society to the next level. My resume’s a bit of a mix—I’ve got a perfect blend of analytical and organization skills mixed with my love for the creative arts and self – motivated extracurricular activities. I have experience leading societies, as when I was in school, I started and led an art club for younger students to help inspire a love of expression and creativity, and in university I have consistently been the leader in my group projects, coming up with ideas, creating deadlines, and motivating my peers. I joined dance society this year, as it was something I wanted to try out, and what I have really loved about it is that it really is open to everyone, regardless of experience. I want to channel that in my role of vice president, as I want everyone to have the opportunity to try out this art combined with exercise and join an inclusive and fun community. Some ideas I have for next year include more advertising for social events, so something like a biweekly newsletter for all members so that everyone knows what’s happening,  and hosting a world of dance celebration showcase!  Bottom line: I’m all about making dance accessible, creative, and joyfully chaotic. Let’s turn this society into a place where everyone feels like they belong—no experience (or rhythm) required.
