Election post
Hello everyone,
I’m Matthew, and I’m excited to stand for the position of Head of Marketing. I believe this role is a great fit for my skills and the value I can bring to our team.
I’ve worked on a range of events and campaigns — from coordinating a tech and startup panel and helping run a 100+ participant fundraiser at UCL as a subcommittee member, to organising environmental initiatives such as school-wide recycling drives and beach cleanups during high school as a society manager. I focused on clear messaging and outreach, which helped drive strong turnout and positive feedback. These experiences have taught me how to promote events effectively by creating clear and engaging messages for events and campaigns, and how to be a collaborative team member.
Now, I want to apply those skills in a way that supports both our events and the growth of the society.
If elected, here’s what I plan to do:
- Create a consistent, term-based marketing calendar so events are promoted early and effectively
- Write clean, on-brand promotional text for events and campaigns tailored to our audience
- Coordinate with the Head of Media to keep our posts clear, consistent, and high quality across platforms
- Promote not just events, but also collaborations and student achievements to keep the society dynamic and visible
- Work behind the scenes to collaborate with other committee members, helping them stay aligned on what’s being promoted and when
