So, take 2: pls vote for me, and if not, thats okay, but pls vote me for vice president :)

Here is my manifesto if you need convincing:

The community of the UCL climbing and mountaineering club has formed the backbone of my social life, weekly structure and supported my wellbeing throughout my 2nd year, a welcoming space that I could truly belong at university. I can't imagine any better position than to lead and help shape the society which transformed my uni experience.

As president I would like to expand club climbing days, in addition to the well established tradition of the Wednesday and Friday Brownswood , and optional Castle climb , I would like to propose we officially add a Tuesday climb at yonder, and a Saturday Evening EustonWall climbs to catch the cheaper entry. This would help ease more people into the society as while castle holds a place dear in all our hearts, we can all agree its bouldering can be a mixed bag and despite being a huge epic literal castle, it is quite possibly one of the most confusingly laid out centres any climber will ever step foot in making it  somewhat overwhelming for newer members trying to integrate.

Branching out like this would help broaden the reach of the society as there are many more UCL climbers than UCLCMC members.
The community we have built is truly wonderful, and I would love to bring more of us climbers together.

Plus, the more members, more club money, which means we can organise bigger and better fun things to come!!! 。◕‿◕。

Ruby Duck

Hi everyone!!

My name’s Ruby, I think many of you might not know me as I’ve been on exchange to Canada the past year, but I’m very excited to be back climbing next year with you all!

Here’s a little summary of why I’m running for president next year:

UCLCMC was a huge huge part of my first two years at UCL. Some of my best friends, experiences and memories have been from this club! I am very grateful to UCLCMC and all the people in it <3

Why you might want to consider me!

  • I was treasurer last year (2023/24) so know the student union processes well
  • Managed to bring the club from a pretty big deficit from the previous year to over 2 grand in credit to pass on to this current year committee!
  • During, I successfully got grants for club ropes (5 new ones!) and helped pres and trip sec at the time with trip and event budgeting :)
  • Basically, I am familiar with the student union and have previous training and experience from my other role
  • Also I really love climbing ! !

What I would do!

  • Am very big on what this club is about, I think climbing is for everyone! and should be really welcoming and fun, as well as a good safe place for people to meet, climb, learn and hang out. I’d like to ensure this is a key focus throughout the year
  • Help organise and run the 3 climbing trips as well as setting up some more online references to help later committees with all behind the scenes of UCLCMC, to keep the club running well in the future :)

Thanks for reading and happy climbing!
