Minister of enjoyment! Intercontinental! Monumental! And everything else Shallipopi said.
As social media officer, this is how I want our ACS to be perceived. I would showcase across all social media platforms how our ACS is loaded with enjoyment and celebrate the diverse and intercontinental backgrounds of our members.
You know that that friend in the group who is always taking pictures and videos, and everyone else always asks to send them to the group chat? Yep- that’s me! I am that friend! Capturing moments and turning them into lasting memories is something I genuinely enjoy, whether it’s through event highlights, behind the scenes footage, or aesthetic recap posts. These are the same skills I would bring to ACS platforms—ensuring our events, initiatives, and spirit are beautifully documented and widely shared.
I will focus on growing our reach, amplifying members’ voices, showcasing events, and highlighting the achievements of our community.
I am eager to bring a fresh, energetic perspective to the society’s online presence, ensuring it reflects the richness, diversity, and excellence of our community.

As a Caribbean student, I’ve always valued the sense of community and culture that ACS brings to campus. That’s why I’m excited to apply for Social Media Officer, to help showcase the vibrant energy, creativity, and connections within our society. Whether it’s hyping up events on Instagram, jumping on TikTok trends, or keeping Twitter/X in the loop, I want to make sure ACS stays on everyone’s radar.
I’m constantly reviewing and learning from the social media accounts of other ACS societies, like those in the Midlands and across London, to stay inspired and up to date with what works. By doing this, I believe we can tailor our content to highlight the unique energy and personality of UCL’s ACS. It's not just about following trends, but about using them to elevate our own voice and make sure our events stand out.
Being behind the scenes, capturing moments, and telling our story through content would genuinely be fulfilling for me. I’m all about using social media not just to inform, but to invite, to show prospective students and current members just how much fun and unity we have here. With strong time management and a head full of ideas, I’ll be a consistent, creative presence always ready to recommend fresh content and new ways to engage.

As ACS Social Media Officer, I’ll bring creativity, consistency, and culture to the forefront. With 14.3k TikTok followers and over 500K monthly Pinterest views, I know how to craft content that resonates. My work with FilmBright, UCL Accommodation, and social media brands has given me the behind-the-scenes experience to take our socials to the next level. I want our page to feel like home — a place where fun meets purpose, and every scroll celebrates Black excellence at UCL.
My vision includes:
- 🔌Promo swaps with local businesses (braiders, barbers, lash techs) for ACS member discounts
- 🎬Takeover days, reels & trending content
- 📆“What’s Happening This Month” event threads
- 📍 “The ACS plug” highlight — spotlighting places to buy things (eg. hair products and plantain), GOOD clubs/entertainment, African and Caribbean food spots
- 🎉 A big focus on fun, culture & community

My name is Lola, I’m a first year Philosophy and Spanish student and I’m running to be the ACS Social Media officer because I believe in providing a digital space that is fun and interactive as well as informative and communicative for both ACS members and those who are just a little curious about what we do. In 2025, social media is far and away the most common form of communication and as your Social Media Officer I would make it my responsibility to ensure you’re in the know about upcoming events well in advance - particularly for those of you who commute from far away or have busy schedules that quickly fill up. I also want to take advantage of the interactivity of social media through comments section quizzes and questionnaires. I think our online space should be a digital copy of the warm, funny community we want to create in real life at ACS events.
Some of the things I’d like the page to showcase:
- Posts about any upcoming events at least a week in advance
- Comment section quizzes about a range of topics, from surprising facts about your new ACS committee, to trivia on Black Excellence. The winners of these quizzes will be rewarded with a small prize
- Highlight videos of the events we have, for anyone who likes to gauge the vibes online before attending next time, and for prospective students
- Fun fact videos about black history
- Funny and relatable skits

I am running for ACS Social Media officer because I have new ideas on how to build our social media presence, especially on platforms such as TikTok. As a social media officer, I would use the TikTok page to make sure that ACS takes part in current trends and debates that affect the diaspora. This would be key to attracting new members to our society and potential investments.
I used the ACS Instagram page to stay updated with the different activities happening and realised its importance in informing ACS members. Our Social Media pages are also where we make our first impressions and should reflect the lively, upbeat culture which is shown in ACS.
I make regular use of social media and know how to manage multiple social media pages across different platforms.
I want to be Social Media Officer so I can help increase visibility for ACS and grow our online presence. Socials are a big part of how people connect, and I’d like to make sure more people see what ACS is doing and get involved.

I am running for the role of Social Media Officer for the ACS because I am passionate about amplifying black voices, celebrating our culture and keeping our community connected and engaged. ACS plays a vital role in fostering pride, unity and support amongst African and Caribbean students and I believe I obtain the skills that can help elevate this through creative and impactful online presence. I have experience in media usage and online campaigns through my role as a prefect and a ‘Faith in Action’ team member in Sixth form where my team and I were able to create promotional videos and campaign for charity events. Through my media skills, my team and I were able to raise a significant amount for charities supporting children with learning difficulties and more. With strong communication and design skills, I am confident in my ability to produce vibrant, informative and engaging content across platforms like Instagram and TikTok that can really elevate ACS and increase interactions with the society. I understand how to use trends and analytics to reach wider audiences whilst representing the values and goals of the society, working to promote events effectively and create consistent content to keep the community informed. Through this role I hope to strengthen both our digital voice and grow the society, making it welcoming for new and existing members.

If you want someone who can turn every post into a celebration of our rich culture, who knows how to blend Afro-Caribbean vibes with the latest social trends, then vote for me, Esther!
With a creative spark that lights up Instagram,TikTok, and beyond, I am ready to amplify our voice, spotlight our events, and make sure every member feels connected, informed, and inspired. From motivational speaker highlights to game nights and debates, I’ll craft content that’s as dynamic and diverse as our society itself.
But it’s not just about likes and shares I understand the power of social media to build community, promote inclusion, and celebrate our heritage with pride. I am organized, proactive, and passionate about using digital platforms to bring us all closer together.
Vote for Esther to keep our socials buzzing, our stories shining, and our African Caribbean Society thriving online. Let’s make every scroll a journey through culture, connection, and celebration!
