Volunteering Society: Outreach Officer

Hi! I'm Sophie, a Year 1 Education student, and I'm running for Outreach Officer because I absolutely love volunteering and want to make a difference not just in UCL but also our local community and wider society. I have been volunteering for many years and have had so many amazing experiences helping out for various causes and getting to know people with like-minded mindsets, and I hope to make this more accessible to UCL students through working with the Outreach Director, the Volunteering Service and other voluntary organisations, or even collaborating with other UCL societies, to coordinate more volunteering opportunities throughout the year. I was the leader of my old school's Buddy Reading club, am currently a regular volunteer at Kindle Corner, and will be volunteering at another charity's reading school shortly as well as two student-led projects working with children next term. I am confident that my experience working with charities/organisations and my passion for volunteering will enable me to fulfil the duties of an outreach officer to the best of my ability.
