This is my second year with Sexpression UCL. I always love this society because I believe in the power of education, especially when it comes to sex and sexual health, which is mostly absent in our secondary education. As a national charity, Sexpression is a perfect platform for spreading sustainable and beneficial messages regarding how to establish healthy sexual relationships among young people.
Last year, I was elected as School Lead, where I got to contact various schools in London and organise sessions with them. I have gone through the volunteer training, so I am already familiar with the topics and content we will deliver to schools.
This July, I was elected as Interim President, and I am responsible for overseeing all the essential society events at the beginning of this term, including Freshers' Fair, interim committee recruitment, social media work and so on. I also completed the Child Protection training, which is an essential part to be taught to the volunteers, only by finishing this would they be allowed to teach in schools.
Therefore, I am already quite familiar with this position, and would like to continue acting as President this year because I have a clear vision of where our society is going and would like to ensure everything is carried out nicely, so that eventually, we can bring more meaningful and exciting sex educational events to both UCL and London community this year.
