Hi I’m Alexa and I’m running for Social Sec!

Like many of you, I started salsa this year and immediately got hooked thanks to the fantastic environment this year’s committee created! Consequently, I want to help contribute to the smooth running of the soc’s events.

Socials play a pivotal role in helping us enjoy our time as society members by creating the opportunity to meet new people, form core memories and provide a chance to practice the steps we learn. I know how intimidating going to socials can be for beginners so I would like to lean into our partnership with the Latin collective, BOS and SOS to organise more group excursions to local Latin clubs for cheap, as well as organise UCL based socials like Phineas’ Latin night. I would also like to expand our reach within UCL by collaborating with other societies and participating in events like UCL’s This Girl Can. Outside of UCL, I will endeavour to arrange workshops led by phenomenal guest instructors so we can refine our styling and appreciate other Latin dances. I'm no stranger to handling challenging logistics thanks to my previous experience as UCL Fencing's Women’s 2nds captain and aid in hosting the LIUF Cup, which will help with planning the proposed events and hopefully a society trip to the Croatian Summer Salsa Festival!

With my love for Latin dancing, I'm excited to be present at socials and am motivated to create events everyone can enjoy!
