Quant Society: Treasurer

Hey everyone! I'm a second-year mathematics student, and I'm running for Treasurer with the goal of helping our society grow. UCL Quant Society, which started in 2020, is a relatively new society and has already caught the attention of many of us. There are so many of you out there, just like me, who are looking to gain insight and experience in quant finance! For this reason, I truly believe this society has enormous potential for growth.

Why do I want this position?

This position provides a great opportunity for me to have a greater impact on the growth of our society, to take on new responsibilities, and to gain experience. And very important! This position will help me encounter new people within the society who share similar goals and interests as mine :)

2) I love Mathematics! I am confident that my degree has equipped me the necessary skills to take on this role.

3) I am not shy! Aside from managing the company's finances, I believe that I could have a great impact on our society's outreach and sponsorships as I am not afraid to reach out to people and build connections. I already have close connections with many quants ranging from firms such as Jefferies, Bank of America and the brokerage firm BGC Group among others. Hey I'm Lincoln, a penultimate year PPE with Data Science student.

Over the past two years, I have served as Vice President for three different societies at UCL, and have developed strong team leadership skills through coordinating large conferences, speaker events and collaborative initiatives.

Beyond student life, I have also gained hands-on experience in FinTech, having interned at a FinTech Department, which brought me into the world of AI and undoubtedly Quant Finance, despite not having learnt it directly during my course.

Some of my additional priorities, however, would be to actively seek sponsorships from relevant Quant companies/Banks, and from partners who truly resonate with Quant Society's cause and is willing to provide financial support on the way.

These all taught me invaluable lessons around the world of Algorithms and Finance, and again having been VP of other societies in the past, I have had experience seeking sponsorships and partners, and this will serve me well within my role as Treasurer, as well as supporting the Quant Society Executive Committee on top of my roles as Treasurer listed by the Student Union.
