Hi! I'm Chris and I'm standing to be a String Orchestra Manager because I am very passionate about music. I'm a first-year History student and I play cello and piano.
I have absolutely loved my time in the UCL orchestras and would love to be more involved in String Orchestra as a manager. I would be thrilled to sort out events, source music, deal with social media communications and I also have many ideas for socials. Should problems arise, I would also be very proactive in dealing with them. Additionally, I want to help Mike set up and deal with all the things required of a SO Manager since he is the only one.
To give you an idea of who you're voting for, my three favourite composers are Bach, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky/Dvorak (can't settle on the last one!).
Lastly, I'm standing because I have an unrequited love relationship with Jaffa Cakes and I would like to see them introduced as a break biscuit alongside the Mcvitie's.
Thanks.
Chris
I am a keen member of both the string orchestra and the symphony orchestra and although I have only been at UCL for a couple of months I really feel at home in the music society. Playing the cello has been a huge part of my life for over 10 years now, and I would love to become more involved with music at UCL! I have really enjoyed these first few months as part of string orchestra with a group of such talented musicians, and would love to plan many more exciting things for the future! I have prior experience in running music groups through Birmingham Junior Conservatoire and as music captain in Year 13. I believe the skills I learnt through this would be very valuable in this position, and I would love to develop these skills further!
I have really enjoyed my time in the orchestra so far, and so I would love to be able to help out and give something back.
I am very passionate about music and I can dedicated plenty of time to assist wherever is needed, from helping set up to organising concerts and recruit viola players. I am very open to new ideas, and I would love hearing recommendations for pieces to play. I could source any music if needed, even for non orchestra needs and my biscuit budget is potentially very very large :)
I am rather excited to be able to introduce recording to the orchestra, and I'm keen to expand this further in the future if it's desired. I wish to be able to help collectively form this ensemble into the best it can be, hopefully working together for many years to craft our own identity into the music (and most importantly have as much fun as possible in the process)!
I’ve been involved in music for a long time, since my days on the Junior programme at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Every step of the way, I’ve been involved in music opportunities like solos or orchestras at school. Although I no longer take lessons or hone my abilities with 40 hours of practice nowadays, I always felt an itch to play music. Coming to UCL and attending String Orchestra, I felt comfortable and natural, as well as nostalgic. Before I knew it, I was hooked and excited for practice each week.
Taking part in orchestra has been really fulfilling and I'm looking forward to seeing the result of our practice in the next concert. In a role of manager, I wish to share my passion (or reignite it) in my fellow string players! I also want to make the orchestra more fun and inclusive to members of all abilities!
