I have a continuously growing passion for fashion and love how it inspires creativity and self-expression. I want to share this with as many people as possible. I believe I am suitable for this role because I am currently taking an online digital marketing degree on Hubspot to increase my knowledge. I also have experience working in a committee as a co-leader of the psychology society in my sixth form, and I had the responsibility of promoting the society while also creating content to share. I love using social media as a platform to share interests and communicate ideas, and I have experience using Canva to create content for social media.
If I am elected, I plan on using the MODO platform to share any opportunities I can find to enable people to increases their skills and knowledge around fashion. I aim to use different techniques to improve engagement and reach out to people who may not have previously been interested in fashion or are not aware of what the fashion society has to offer. I want to build a sense of community among members, promote events, and enhance the overall experience for everyone involved.
I’ve had a great time engaging with MODO in my very first few months of Uni, and I’d love to get the chance to become a part of it and start contributing personally to the society.
Growing an Instagram art account to over 10k followers has honed my content curation, audience engagement, and client relationship skills. I’ve developed a nuanced understanding of consumer behaviour, adapting social media strategies based on engagement metrics to maximise impact for my account. Landing a Social Media internship with a charity, I devised a brand new social media strategy, and established a cohesive brand aesthetic by creating a new set of Canva templates, enhancing marketing efforts.
As the former president of the Film Society (in sixth form), I orchestrated large-scale film screenings, refining marketing skills by creating various promotional materials. I personally engaged with students by pitching events and distributing cinema-style tickets, which significantly increased audience turnout. This hands-on experience has equipped me to not only create compelling content but also to effectively connect with and influence the target audience.
As someone who is really passionate about engaging with clothesmaking and fashion in any way (and the lovely people within it) I believe I will be able to effectively apply my experiences to this role and will give it my all! Thank you for this opportunity <3
Hey fashion lovers!
My journey with MODO has been amazing since day one. MODO Fashion Show, especially the debut of my avant-garde collection, Darah Pusaka, was a game-changer. While I've loved design since I was a kid, MODO Fashion Show boosted my confidence to design and sew more.
Post-show, the response was incredible—orders poured in from diverse clients, including Malaysian tourists, Instagram followers, and even drag queens. This solidified my identity as a designer, and I'm grateful for these opportunities.
Proficient in software like Photoshop, Canva, Procreate, and Picsart, my experiences in digital design/marketing at my previous college and volunteering for the Acadstream Instagram page have honed my skills.
But beyond the technical, my drive to apply for the role comes from my love for designing. Building colour palettes, planning Instagram aesthetics, and letting creativity flow fuel my enthusiasm.
I have an exciting plan for our MODO community—I propose a weekly fashion trivia series called "Fashion Friday." Imagine this: every Friday, we share fun fashion trivia on the MODO Instagram, compiled as highlights. If it's a hit, we can expand into "Styling Sunday" or "Minimalist Monday."
In conclusion, my goal is to provide our society with as much digital and physical experience as possible, creating a space where fashion enthusiasts can just enjoy the day and be fashionable.
Thanks for considering me. I look forward to contributing to the vibrant MODO community.
I am running for the position of Head of Social Media/Marketing because getting involved in MODO was a crucial part of my second year at university. Meeting like-minded people was beneficial in figuring out where I want to be headed after university and in building a network of people interested in fashion. I firmly believe that strong communication and advertising of our events is essential to the success of MODO. It is through our events that we can build a strong sense of community and network and create unforgettable experiences for all members, and it is crucial that as many people hear about them as possible.
Whether it's a runway show, a clothing swap, a networking event with industry professionals, or a fun night out in slay fits, I am committed to ensuring that every event is advertised and captured. I swear I take cute pics, you'll deffo get Instagram-ready posts from me : ) You can check out my Instagram @gaspardgrl.

Similar to the impactful outcomes witnessed at Project Nyay'ri, the scope of my role as a Marketing Manager extends beyond conventional metrics. It centers around empowerment & collaboration. Through showcasing diverse perspectives, championing inclusivity and sustainability, and emphasizing the intersectionality of marketing and culture, I am poised to actively contribute to the enhancement of our marketing community.
I aspire to leverage my content creation experience, extending it seamlessly into the dynamic pulse of contemporary marketing trends. Hi! I’m Audrey Thompson, a second year languages student, and I’m eager to demonstrate why I’m the ideal candidate for the Head of Social Media and Marketing position at our fashion society MODO.
As a model since the age of 11, I've gained extensive firsthand experience in the fashion industry. My work ethic and ability to manage a personal brand aligns with the skills needed for the successful management and promotion of MODO's social media. Growing my online presence on my fashion-focused social medias to a collective 500,000 followers in just two years demonstrates that I have the skills and experience to effectively promote society events and enhance online engagement. Community building, trend-focused content creation, and data-driven campaigns are strategies I will use to boost MODO's social media presence. My fluency in multiple languages, dual citizenship, and biracial background provide a unique understanding of diversity's importance in the international fashion industry. My ability to communicate at different levels in French, English, Spanish and Italian allows me to tailor content to cater to different backgrounds. My keen sense of cultural awareness is also crucial for my goal of making MODO more inclusive and relatable.
Ultimately, I believe my unwavering passion for fashion and commitment to staying updated with industry trends will help ensure that our marketing strategies remain fresh and appealing, making me a valuable asset to the team!
Being part of the MODO community has been key in shaping my confidence over the last year and inspired me to do things I never thought I could do. I really value our spirit of community, creativity and self-expression and would love to contribute to this as the society’s head of social media and marketing.
By managing social media accounts and creating promotional marketing materials for MODO events, my goal is to inspire people to get involved in the society, step out of their comfort zones, and meet other members.
One thing about MODO is that there’s always something happening – big society events and shows, but also smaller workshops and shoots. I believe that good online communication is crucial for this. I would like to maintain and enhance our social media presence by consistently informing MODO members of all opportunities through story and feed posts, and creating content which reflects our work and displays the art we create as a society.
Beyond my motivations, I also believe that I have the right set of skills for the position. My perspective as a 2nd-year psychology student gives me unique insight into the science behind marketing. Furthermore, having done art classes all my life, I have an eye for graphic design and aesthetics which helps me create materials that speak to people. Lastly, I am very detail-oriented and would take pride in creating content for our society.
I’d be honoured to be your next MODO head of social media and marketing :)
Hey! My names Becca and I am the current interim head of marketing and social media for MODO!
From standing in as the interim over the past few weeks, I've seen the amazing dynamics of the MODO committee this year and would love to continue being a part of that! Our instagram is the way we contact our members, so it is vital we create a friendly yet professional social media, which I strongly believe I can continue to do. Marketing and social media as a part of MODO has let me find a creative outlet alongside my degree, and I plan on making @uclmodo instagram a more interactive place. My plans include our committee takeover days, producing BTS designer and model content on the lead up to the fashion show, and creating styling and design reels.
I was a marketing executive for MODO last year, so stepping up into the head of marketing role would be a great opportunity going into second year! I have experience running social media campaigns and writing blog posts for a variety of companies, through a freelance marketing firm.
As someone who felt slightly intimidated joining different societies last year, and then being welcomed into MODO so openly, I really hope to use this committee position to make MODO an even friendlier and more inclusive society!
Please vote for me for Head of Marketing! :)
