Jazz Society: Jam Manager

Hi, I'm Sean, a Year 1 Maths Student and Alto Sax player - and I'm standing for Jam manager!

I'm applying for this position essentially because I love jazz and playing in the Jazz Jams! Despite being just a fresher, since I arrived at UCL I've been down at Phineas playing sax every Tuesday and the Institute some Mondays, playing both in House Band and in the Open Jam, so I've already seen how great the jams are! I'm also in Big Band, Choir and one of the small bands in the upcoming 'Grooves from the Arcade' show. 

I think the Jam is a great place to not only celebrate jazz, have a fun night and listen to someone absolutely shred their solo, but also to introduce others to the jazz experience - and I'd love to foster this community. I'd also love to make sure that anyone, regardless of ability, is able to go up and play a standard or two at the jam! Going up to play is so rewarding in terms of learning for both seasoned regulars and up-and-coming musicians. 

I'm eager to collaborate further with fellow jazz enthusiasts to keep having unforgettable jazz nights and I look forward to the possibility of contributing to Jazz society! (I also promise we'll keep playing Caravan and Chameleon if I get elected ;) )
