Intellectual Property Society: Events Officer

Hello! I am Noah. I currently study my LLM Intellectual Property Law here at UCL. I was drawn to the society because of the opportunities it offers to explore the area of IP more beyond my course. However, I feel that the society is yet to reach its full potential. As an events officer, I would like to help develop the society through more events within the academic year as well as offer more frequent socials for members. I would also like to grow the UCL Journal of Intellectual Property, which the society contributes to. I think it can be a great publication for those interested in IP.

To reach these goals as events officer, I plan to work on expanding the list of events that we offer or attend as a society together (like the "EPO and UPC: Friends or Foes?" seminar at the end of November). I would aim to organise more panel discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions as well. One way in which I'd try to widen the society's activities in these ways would be to collaborate with the UCL IBIL, which organises many events throughout the year and to dig deeper into IP events happening in London. I also consider reaching out to more law firms or chambers that may be willing to give us a deeper insight into IP from a practice perspective.

Furthermore, I plan to organise more socials to get to know each other and to discuss our interests in IP or be creative ourselves. I would aim to tailor these socials to what the society members are most interested in.
