Hi, I’m Lara, and I’m running to be your Campaigns Officer!

I’m standing for Campaigns Officer as I want to hold UCL accountable for their role in the climate crisis. It is shocking that UCL allows fossil fuels companies onto our campus, and the student body must demand an end! Campaigns such as Fossil Free Careers are a crucial way for students to do this.

Having been involved in CAS's main campaign, Fossil Free Careers, for the past two months I have gained an insight into the campaign and have a clear understanding of its goals and values. The role of Campaigns Officer would allow me to promote the campaign within the society, giving members an way to hold UCL responsible.

As Campaigns Officer, I would:

  • Continue to support initiatives such as Fossil Free Careers
  • Ensure that CAS members are updated on campaigns
  • Create an inclusive, welcoming environment for people that want to get involved
  • Allow members to suggest new campaign ideas and give feedback

I have lots of experience organising and coordinating campaigns. As the social media lead for the London Student Sustainability Conference, I helped grow and organise the event, increasing attendance. Additionally, my position as Sponsorship Director for the UCL Animal Rights Society, and my volunteering with climate-orientated charities including Ripple Africa and TOLFA demonstrate my suitability for the role of Campaigns Officer.
