I'm Red and I'm a third year English student. I hope that if you attend the Humour meetings you already know who I am but if you don't, I am the interim Humour Editor.
As actual Humour Editor, I would continue to champion your individual voices as writers, ensuring that everyone is able to write in a style that they enjoy, on topics that they are most interested in. No one should ever feel forced to write in a certain way in order to have their work published. Furthermore, I would continue to emphasise collaboration as the guiding principle of humour meetings. Everyone should have the opportunity to participate in each step of article creation, be that in the generation of ideas, the actual writing process, or during the final editing stage. Finally, I would continue to encourage everyone to write as much as possible, as this, in conjunction with the emphasis on the collaborative process and championing of the individual, is the best way for everybody to improve as writers.
Whilst this is great in theory, why should I be trusted to deliver on it? For one, I think that my position as interim editor is some proof of my ability to perform in the role. But, more importantly, I genuinely love helping others to improve their work. As editor, you would be able to trust me to act with enthusiasm and dedication. I will treat your work with the respect and time it deserves and always ensure that what you want to write gets published.
Thank you for your consideration!
