Coming to UCL last September as a state school and as a widening partcipation student really highlighed to me why we need the 93% club. I felt very isolated and alone and it took me a long time to find people I could relate to.
So, I know how important it is to create an inclusive community which not only supports but pushes state school students to be confident.
Last summer I worked with my sixth form to help current students who wanted to apply to 'elite universities'. This is what pushed me to join the 93% club as interim outreach officer, last September. So far I've really enjoyed getting to know the fellow 93% members and trying to increase club membership and awareness.
If I am lucky enough to be elected as Outreach Officer I will increase outreach programmes for incoming students, try to work with local schools to help sixth form students with their university applications and plan more socials and talks for UCL students.
