Having served as the Vice President over the past year, I have been deeply involved in organizing club events, coordinating internal tournaments, and leading the UCL Snooker Team in national university leagues. These experiences have given me a comprehensive understanding of the club’s operations and a strong sense of responsibility for its growth and development. If elected, I aim to further expand our club’s presence both within UCL and across the UK university snooker and pool community.
Sincerely,
Zikun Gan
Vice President, Snooker and Pool Club.
Would love to be president and make sure the organisation of the society goes smoothly!
As a Society Treasurer, Network Campaigns Rep, and Societies Rep in the Activities Zone, I’ve gained invaluable insights that I can bring to running this club. Beyond having already completed almost all relevant training for the role, my experience places me well to lead our club to great things in the months ahead.
In my other roles I’ve learned to co-operate and lead, collaborate with clubs, societies, networks, the SU and third parties, conduct effective communication and run successful events. I’ve become aware of the needs, struggles and concerns of students of diverse demographics and circumstances, which I’m determined to accommodate through all possible means.
I’ve many ideas on how to build on our success and push our club even further, including the following:
- A drive to recruit new members in term 2, utilizing Term 2 memberships and the Taster Session Grant, so our club continues to grow as the year goes on.
- Professional coaching sessions at least once per term, free for Competitive members.
- Events at other locations to reach a broader range of students, including those studying or living near UCL East.
- Promotion of the Participation Fund, and increased transparency about costs involved in tournament participation.
- Women’s Team trials, and a general push to encourage non-male-identifying students to join and compete.
- Free social events beyond playing pool, helping to foster a community beyond the games.
- A national London-based Summer Pool Tournament, putting UCL on the map!
