Rare FM: Welfare Officer

Hiya, I’m Risa, a postgraduate student specialising in Intellectual Property Law and aspiring music lawyer, standing to be Welfare Officer for Rare FM.

I’ve loved music for as long as I can remember; it’s what keeps me grounded, connected, and inspired. As someone who’s lived with anxiety and depression since school, I know how important it is to have supportive, understanding spaces where creativity can thrive.

Over the past two summers, I’ve worked as a pastoral and activity leader, supporting students from around the world to explore the subjects they want to study at uni, and making sure they feel included, confident, and cared for. I’d bring that same compassion and energy to Rare FM, making sure everyone - whether they’re hosting a show, mixing tracks,  finding their voice, or just listening - feels safe, supported, and valued.

I want to help build a station where welfare and creativity go hand in hand - because when people feel good, the music gets even better!!
