Hiya Shrish here. It has been a real joy to meet so many of you in such a short time during the fresher's musical and sister act, but to people who don't know me I can't wait to meet you! I’ve worked in hospitals, orphanages and schools in many different across countries and I want to bring this global perspective to our incredibly diverse society. I am equally dedicated to uplifting the LGBTQIA+ voices that make such a large contribution to our society. I am committed to making our first year with MT Soc the best it can possibly be by always being approachable and passionate to answer any questions you might have. Please vote for me :3
I would love to represent the freshers in musical theatre society because of my passion for theatre and my love of event organisation. As performing arts prefect in sixth form I gained experience in event organisation, and communication between student (and staff) bodies, which was experience specifically surrounding the performing arts, so I believe I would be a great fit in this role. I also love musical theatre and I am passionate about its accessibility. I volunteered at a local primary school with a friend to put on a small production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. Watching the joy these students had while they performed for the first time was the most incredible feeling, and the comments received from staff and parents was so rewarding. Then, last year I was involved in producing my schools first ever student led musical which was fully run by students from teaching to tech to production. This was a huge success and launched the beginning of an annual student led production, which gives students more opportunities to get involved in aspects of theatre that they can’t usually, something I particularly enjoyed when I took a role in the choreography team. Of course my heart is mainly in the performing - being on stage is a feeling like no other and the magic of theatre deserves to be felt by everyone, so I would be thrilled to be this years freshers rep and spread that joy to as many people as possible.
I'm standing to hopefully contribute to the MT Society and also make it a more enjoyable experience for Freshers.
Hello there! My name is Matthew, and I am running for First Year Rep this year for Musical Theatre Society. You probably won't see me as often as other members, as I am always hiding behind in the band. Although this is my first year at UCL MT, I have already been involved in two Musical theatre shows: "Sister Act" and "Tick, Tick... Boom" where I played guitar in the band.
Despite being a band musician, and not entirely a "theatre kid". I hope to do my absolute best to represent different voices within society. Whether you are passionate about acting, singing or playing for the band, or just a musical lover, you will have a voice in the society. I know first year is tough when you are surrounded by people that had more years within the university than you are (Trust me I know it from first-hand experience, even til now), but I will do my best to accommodate everyone!
I look forward to meeting and working with all of you guys!
