As the interim Clinical Education Co-Chair, I have begun work with the rest of the committee to start shaping plans for the coming year. In this role, I have worked on developing ideas to strengthen our OSCE and clinical education programmes; our plans for the new OSCE series this year are particularly exciting. OSCEs are largely an exam students prepare for individually, and this can be an overwhelming step-up from pre-clinical years. This year, I want to expand our tutorials to cover CPSA content with a new series that aims to close the knowledge gap and support every student in feeling familiar and confident with the OSCEs.

I am standing to be officially elected as co-chair as I am passionate about turning our aspirations into actions. If elected, I will work to:

  1. Introduce an OSCE team who will provide earlier and consistent practice opportunities across the year for year 4 and year 5, something that will be new for the Medical Society.
  2. Collaborate with the medial school to make the mock CPSA in term 2 as useful and close to the summative as possible. I will liaise with the school to answer everyone’s questions and concerns before and after.
  3. I plan to expand the society’s drive with resources, for both 4th and 5th years, that will help you prepare both for the AKT and the OSCEs.

I am committed to lead our plans with openness and innovation to ensure we continue to empower students whilst setting a new standard for peer-led clinical teaching.
