Sophie Rogers

Hello! I'm Sophie, a final year Neuroscience MSci student. I have been acting as interim president for Kinesis since mid-July, and I would love to officially continue in this position!

Since standing in for president, I've coordinated multiple Freshers events including welcome stalls, an introductory evening, and a joint arts + crafts social with Pi Media, as well as overseeing the creation of Issue 15 and organising the launch party for it. I'm excited to continue coming up with social events,  mag launches and, most importantly, seeing even more amazing science communication come to life!

Last year, I was co-editor-in-chief for Pi Media magazine, which gave me an amazing insight in both the organisation and creativity required to direct a magazine. I learnt how to schedule a realistic timeline for myself and writers, editors, and artists, whilst making each interaction as uplifting as possible. I understand the importance of attention to detail to ensure good quality of writing and editing, while keeping the bigger creative picture in mind.

Before that, I held the roles of writer and editor, meaning I know what it is like to work at each level of the creation of a magazine. As such, I know what makes a helpful leader, and what doesn't.

Since acting as president, I have seen the level of organisation, commitment and engagement such a position requires. I really believe I have the skills, experience and  drive to continue helping Kinesis grow, and I hope I can continue to do so.
