I am standing for the Events Officer role because I have already been working in this role on an interim basis and would like to continue building the momentum we've created this term. Through helping organise and support the recent speaker events, I have gained a strong understanding of the society's aims and the level of coordination needed to ensure this society provides valuable experiences and networking opportunities for our members. I've noticed that many students are curious about IP but unsure where to begin, and the society plays an important role in making those first steps feel accessible. I find it rewarding to make sure everything feels easy and welcoming. My interest own in IP comes from seeing how scientific and creative work can easily lose value without the right protection, and I want this society to help students understand those ideas early on.
I enjoy being someone who ensures things run smoothly, and I communicate well with members and the committee while managing the day's logistics. Even when plans shift, I naturally take responsibility and stay organised. I want to continue developing events that feel informative without being intimidating, and to help make the society a space where students feel comfortable exploring IP, no matter their background or level of experience. I care about building a community where people feel included and encouraged to ask questions, and I would like to play a consistent role in shaping that environment.
