Jermaine Acho Okere

Hello everyone. I’m a 20-year-old Masters student in Software Systems Engineering, and I’m running to be your next Welfare Officer for the UCL Golf Society.

While we all love the game, I understand that university life and even golf itself can bring unique challenges. This role is about listening, supporting, and ensuring everyone feels safe and included.

My commitment is simple: to be a visible, reliable, and discreet point of contact for any member needing guidance, a confidential chat, or just a friendly ear. I will actively promote a culture of mutual respect and inclusivity within the society, ensuring our environment is welcoming for all backgrounds and skill levels.

I’ll utilise my organisational skills to ensure clear communication of available welfare resources and establish regular check-ins with our members.

Vote for me, and let’s make sure that every member of the UCL Golf Society has the support they need to thrive both on and off the course.

Cathy Zhu

Golf has been an important part of my life for years, teaching me patience, focus, and integrity. Joining the UCL Golf Club has been one of the most rewarding parts of my university experience, helping me improve my game and connect with a supportive community that shares the same passion.

I’m applying for the Welfare Officer position because I genuinely care about the well-being and experience of every member. I consider myself a responsible and empathetic person that always ready to listen and help during training and socials when needed.

As Welfare Officer, I will work closely with the president and committee to ensure all events run safely and smoothly. I’m also keen to organise welfare-focused activities that bring members together and create a positive club atmosphere. By maintaining open communication and responding quickly to any concerns, I hope to make everyone feel comfortable, supported, and valued.

Ultimately, I want to give back to the club that has given me so much joy by helping to build a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment—both on and off the course.
