Jermaine Acho Okere

Hello everyone! I’m 20 studying my Masters in Software Systems Engineering, and I’m ready to be your next Social Secretary.

As a golfer, I know the society is about more than just the swing. It’s about the community. I'm running to inject a fresh wave of energy and innovation into our social calendar. From creative, relaxed mixers and inter-society events to lively end-of-term bashes, my goal is simple: to make sure everyone, from beginners to scratch players, feels welcomed, included, and valued.

My background gives me the organizational and networking skills to plan unforgettable events, and my high energy ensures they'll be buzzing. I’m committed to building a vibrant, supportive atmosphere where everyone can connect and make lasting memories.

My drive is to ensure the social side is as exciting and high-quality as our performance on the green. So vote for me, and let's make this the most social and exciting year yet for UCL Golf Society.

Daniela Fernandez Gonzalez

Hi, my name is Daniela and I am standing as a candidate to be the next social secretary, because I believe I could make things better for the UCL golf club with my creative ideas and dynamic skills and more related to the social media platform and the events. During my time in the university I had the opportunity to meet people from different places and grow as a person learning to develop my social skills and expand my knowledge in different areas, for instance I have experience creating events and activities for students as I used to be one of the 5 committee members of the Students Union of my last university and was elected school rep for the Architecture, computing and engineering. I started playing golf through friends from uni and events for work. I’m very happy for the outcome of this opportunity and I know I have a lot to offer as I can bring the perspective of someone used to perform in a professional environment mixed with the student lifestyle, and I’d be willing to help others when needed and support all the members in achieving their goals within the club. Also I am looking forward to learn more from other members from the committee and exchange ideas and opinions about the fascinating golf world.

Hugo Rayner

What do I hope to achieve in the role if I am elected?

  1. Provide what the people ask for, if the golf club asks, I will aim to satisfy.
  2. I will make UCL Golf socials as accessible as possible, and every member of our community feels there is an event fit right for them.
  3. Successfully grow my favourite part of the sport I love, socialising, aiming to facilitate hosting a great bunch of people with a shared interest and university.

What will you bring to the role?

  1. I have multiple years’ experience in organisational and council-based roles, working out and planning the logistics of conferences, dinners and socials and organising c40 people.
  2. I am a  confident and outgoing person who is attentive to others and attempting to sure everyone is having the best time possible. This is as I have a better understanding than most at finding social environments challenging and can spot when someone needs a little support (I'm deaf).

To conclude, I hope not just to facilitate the various social events of the year, but grow the part UCL Golf club socials play in a members experience at the club. While coaching and range sessions are thriving, I feel there is a lot left on the table when it comes to the other side of a sports society, making friends and having a laugh. In my tenure I hope we can make some noticeable strives forward and ultimately leave my successor something everyone can be proud of. A good bunch of golfers, but a great bunch of mates.
