Hi all!
My name is Tereza and I am a 2nd year BSc Biomedical Sciences student specializing in immunology and cancer biology. So far I have been the face behind all GenSoc's instagram posts for this academic year, working as an Interim Social Media Officer and I would love to continue doing so!
In my opinion, students should know about all the incredible events organized by GenSoc ahead of the date. How I would do it is by creating a content calendar to ensure consistent posting. I am a fan of aesthetic minimalistic posts. My ideas for increasing the engagement and enlarging the community include for example:
- creating a series of „Gene of the Month“ posts
- Posting live content from organized events and making effective countdowns for them
- Doing monthly summary posts of all thats happened within GenSoc and many more!
If selected for the role, my main goals would be to:
- promote our events so that they get to as many people
- highlight the inspirative GenSoc members so that their talent and hard work is recognised (which could potentially bring new members or at least inspire other students)
- show students whats it like to do genetics and how fascinating this field is!
At the end, it’s all about giving the GenSoc the visibility and attention it deserves, am I right? Thanks for reading this all the way and for considering voting for me!
I’m standing for Social Media Officer because I see social media as a bridge between the lab and the world, turning complex info into stories that everyone can engage with. Through my experience editing popular science articles and co-founding a science community that brought together hundreds of students, I learned how to simplify complex ideas without losing their depth. I created and managed social media content that dealt with topics like genetics, neuroscience, and health policy into engaging posts that captured the curiosity of a wide audience. This experience taught me that science communication is not only about accuracy but also about creativity.
I have also seen how effective communication can create real impact. When I co-founded a health literacy course to help refugees navigate healthcare systems, I realized how powerful digital platforms can be in spreading information that improves lives. As Social Media Officer, I will combine these experiences to build a vibrant and inspiring online presence for the Genetics Society. I plan to feature student stories, research highlights, and global genetics news while using creative visuals to make complex biology engaging and relevant. I want our page to reflect the passion and diversity within our community and to inspire students from every background to explore the beauty of genetics. Science becomes stronger when it is shared, and I want our society’s voice to reach everyone who is eager to learn.
