As someone who believes fencing is as much about camaraderie as it is about competition, I bring experience in planning inclusive, energetic events that strengthen community bonds. If elected Social Secretary, I will design diverse social initiatives to unite fencers of all skill levels, off and on the piste. I plan to host monthly themed social nights (from fencing-themed trivia to casual dinners), organize inter-club mixers with other university fencing societies, and arrange fun team-building activities like outdoor adventure days or skills-based challenges with a social twist. My focus will be on creating relaxed, welcoming spaces where members can connect beyond training—forging friendships that enhance our club’s spirit and make every fencer feel like part of a tight-knit team.

Celena Tighilt-Meziri

Hi everyone!
I’m Celena and I’m really excited to nominate myself for the position of Social Secretary for our fencing club!

A bit about me: I work part-time at an events company, so planning and organising social activities is something I genuinely enjoy. I love meeting new people and bringing everyone together and I’d love to use that energy to help make our club feel even more connected.

If elected, I want to create events for everyone: whether you’re up for a big night out, a chill coffee chat, or something in between. It’s important to me that our socials are inclusive, relaxed and a fun way for all of us to bond outside of training.
I think the best part of being in a club is the community and I’d really like to help strengthen that.
I’m always open to suggestions and feedback, if there’s something you’d love to see happen, I’ll do my best to make it happen!
Thanks for considering me, I’d love the chance to make our fencing club an even more fun, welcoming place for everyone!
