I firmly believe that the first year EISPS cohort has the potential to become a powerful, supportive and vibrant community of motivated students and future leaders.

Since the start of term, I have repeatedly been impressed by how diverse, intelligent and motivated our cohort is. Moreover, due to the niche and interdisciplinary nature of our course there is so much to discuss, explore and bond over. Unfortunately, I don't think we have enough opportunities to socialise with the whole cohort since we only have a few shared classes a week. As First Year Representative, I will ensure that there are ample oppurtunities for all first years to come together at socials or meaningful activities.

I believe the events the society hosts should reflect the diverse languages and specialisms that make our course so unique. With this in mind I will push for more diversity and inclusion in the events that we hold.  Moreover, I will make sure that First Years have a say in the kinds of activities they would like to see our society hosting.

I am sure that one day the people on our course will control the world (inshallah).  By creating a strong community today, we can build what will go on to become a powerful network of global leaders who can support each other to have a positive impact, and maybe even control the world together

From my experience, though the breadth of our course is its greatest strength, this can mean we're all in different places, so our paths don't cross as much as we'd like. That's why I'd like to play a role in improving the EISPS Society as a space where we can all come together to celebrate the diversity of course and those of us who study it.

It is really important to me that, as members of this community, your voices are heard. If elected, I'd represent you effectively by creating a feedback form where you can suggest how to improve the society (or how I can do a better job!), from events to the Rendezvous journal, for which I write. After all, the reason for having a representative is to make improvements that you, not just I, want to see.

Cooperation and effective communication are important skills for this role. I have previously been an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) representative before joining UCL. This taught me the value of developing a strong community in making positive change; that’s how our society can thrive. I hope it would help me in representing the diversity of our course too.

I have engaged in several amazing events run by the society so far, though I'd be keen to see more events that cater for the wide range of interests that we all share - from law, to history, to anthropology - that's ultimately the reason you're all members of this society!

If you share my vision, I'd love it if you could consider me, and don't hesitate to ask me any questions!

As we are a small and tight-knit department, I believe it is vital that open discourse and welcoming attitudes run amongst us. Being far-flung in our module choices, the EISPS society is central to our ability to collate our diverse strengths and skills to provide solutions to modern-day problems. Hence, I consider it essential for our first year representative to have a strong insight into these affairs, as well as a good understanding of the work involved.

For this, I am eager to represent the voices of my peers as EISPS Society's first year representative, such that we may contribute fresh perspectives to this ongoing discourse. I hope to make everyone feel heard and understood, as well as raising those several pressing issues which are already being considered. Having served as Student Vice-President and Iftar Event Director at sixth form, I am well-placed to convey student voices across the board, as well as to work closely with other committee members to make our society safe, fun, and welcoming.
